First day of vacation

I know many of you are concerned that I will be teaching until the fourth of July, but it is not so really (or at least I hope not!)... Our school distict budgets in 3 days to be used for snow days with the oppertunity to use two more if we need them and not extending the school year. We have an extra long Memorial day weekend if we don't use all five, but if need be then they take the days from there first. I love a good snow day, but 2 hour delays are good too.

So what am I doing on vacation you might ask... well not much so far really. Saturday we went to a college basketball game and had chinese food! We took the dog for a hike yesterday. He is crazy for the outdoors and snow! Several people thought he was a bear on a leash. I don't think he is that big, but is is dark black with cute little ears and as he is barreling down the path I might see how they could mistake the two! Today I got up and did a great workout, showered and went to the chiropractor for a visit and get myself all aligned. Then to the grocery store. Now I think I will kick my feet up and grab a book and turn on the tv much later today and enjoy my silence!

As for knitting. Thanks for the compliments on the stole. I wored a few rows this morning. I hope to get almost caught up before the week is over. I also cast on for a cable hat on the drive to the basketball game and finished that last night...

I also worked on my thrummed mittens on Friday when we had some company. I figured they would be easy to work on and have a conversation for an hour or so.

I do want to get my niece's birthday gifts completed this week if I can. I love to get things done early so as not to worry about them. Her b-day is Marc 22nd and she is turning 2! She is quite a character. Since it is also Easter weekend, I thought I wold make her one of those bunny buddies blankets from Lionbrand and either an apple hat or a BSJ with some boucle I have in the stash so she can use it as a jacket. We'll see what I feel like as the week goes on!

Oh and I almost forgot. There is a little blog contest over at What if Knits If you love a easy contest, this one is for you! And you get to help out some animals in the process!

We may still have snow here on the 4th of July. Huge piles are stacked up and I can picture them still standing, all dirty and ugly, as the daffodils finally bloom mid-April.

The hat looks warm and cozy.

That baby surprise jacket seems to be turning up everywhere lately. Yours are very attractive. I've never made one, but it's getting more and more tempting to do one just for the fun of it.

Have a great vacation.

Very nice hat, and I like the mitten! Happy colors, offset by white. Very cozy. And, for all my love of black, I have to confess that I like seeing bright colors when it's gray and gloomy outside.
